DIANNE SCHNIEDERS
My artistic works target other beings with which we share our world and are based on the principle that all creatures have a right to a life free of pain and cruelty. Both humans and animals have inherent value and deserve respect. In particular I look at animals whose lives are most affected by our laws, our agricultural practices, our choices and our indifference. My aim is to engage the viewer with a thought- provoking idea and encourage reflection and, ideally, action.
Most of my artwork is two-dimensional on paper or canvas and uses a variety of media such as oil, watercolor, ink, charcoal and graphite. Drawing animals has been a skill I have developed over a lifetime and I am pleased to discover a purpose through my research into animal rights and human morality. I want to use this talent to try to affect a change in how we regard and treat the innocent creatures among us.
